About Alpha Plus Training

We are an established group of Trainers who share a commitment to promote mental health wellbeing, reduce the impact of poor mental health and help create a suicide safer community.

We achieve this by delivering a range of training programmes which are focussed on giving participants the skills, knowledge and confidence to intervene with someone who is experiencing mental distress and/or at risk of suicide.

In our experience:

  • Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) provides a highly effective way to intervene positively with individuals to reduce immediate mental distress and to help prevent an early mental health problem from deteriorating into a more serious state.
  • Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training (ASIST) is the most effective training programme for learning and applying suicide first aid to protect and promote life.
  • ASIST & MHFA are both effective in reducing the stigma and discrimination which often surrounds mental health issues and suicide.
  • The intervention skills and knowledge gained in ASIST & MHFA can be learned and applied by people from all walks of life.

Because issues around Mental Health & Suicide can be intense and personal, we strive to make our training environments as safe and supportive as possible.

All of our programmes are rigorously monitored to ensure that the training is delivered to the highest standards. Feedback from participants has been consistently high - over 90% reporting a significant increase in confidence as a result of their training.

In addition to MHFA (Adult & Youth Versions) and ASIST, we also offer training that is tailored specifically to your needs, so please contact us to discuss the options available.
