About Us

Kate McNairney

Kate's professional background lies in education and staff training. She has led and managed multidisciplinary teams and firmly believes in partnership working. An essential part of her work as a manager has been to raise the motivation and expectations of students, as well as maximising the potential of staff through training and staff development.

Her specific areas of expertise focus on effective management strategies, Managing Challenging Behaviour, Working Effectively with Families and Scottish Mental Health First Aid Training.

Currently she has been working with schools to

  • Deliver Scotland’s Mental Health First Aid (SMHFA) to school staff
  • Delivering bespoke training programmes on Mental Health and Wellbeing
  • Review and revise Health Policy

David Mclean

David has until recently worked as an Education Officer for West Lothian where he gained extensive experience in supporting schools to improve pupil attainment. He introduced the Study Support Programme into West Lothian schools. He was Chair for LEAPS (Lothian Equal Access for Schools) promoting wider access for students into higher education.

Currently he has been working with schools to:

  • Coach senior leaders to improve their ability to lead and self evaluate their impact on young people’s attainment and achievement.
  • Write financial bids (P.E.F. & S.A.C.) to assist schools with base-line procedures to measure impact. Progress reports to Local authorities and Scottish Government.
  • Write School Improvement Plan and Self-Evaluation reports.
  • Prepare for HMI Inspections and Validated Self-Evaluation
  • Undertake action research projects to measure impact of initiatives designed to close the attainment gap.
